LPI-East Africa will be managed by Evans Ikua, a long time advocate of Linux and Open Source solutions in Kenya and other nations throughout East Africa. Mr. Ikua is also the FOSS Certification Manager for ict@innovation–a joint project of FOSSFA – The Free Software and Open Source Foundation for Africa (FOSSFA) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

As part of the relocation, IFAW upgraded its network backbone by standardizing on the HP Networking 5400 zl switch series, which allows the organization to more efficiently communicate with clients with a faster connection than the previous network configuration. IFAW uses this networking technology along with HP 2510 and HP 2810 switch series to ensure that its offices around the world are connected and can scale as business demands peak.
